St Ives Shanty Shout Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary – and It's Going to Be a Tin-tastic Weekend!
40 groups, 14 venues and more than 100 hours of singing as St Ives prepares for its much-loved Shanty Shout’s 10th anniversary! The St Ives Shanty Shout is back for 2026, celebrating its special 10th Anniversary or ‘Tin-niversary’! with a weekend of music, singing and fundraising! What began in 2016 as a one-day charity gig between friends has grown into one of St Ives’ best-loved annual music events. Funded initially by a small grant from St Ives BID and 15 performers busking in the town centre, the Shout has now grown but it’s venues are all still within a 10 minute walk from each other!
To mark this milestone, the Shout’s very own ‘Shanty Kids’, local children aged 5–10, will perform at a special Saturday afternoon concert in St Ia Church, alongside other performers and a group led by St Ia’s vicar, Nick Widdows!
The Shout is a firm favourite on the pre-Christmas calendar, attracting groups from across the country, including renowned regulars Kimber’s Men, who travel from Yorkshire every year for the festival’s wonderful atmosphere and warm welcome. Once again, the Shout will raise vital funds for its chosen charity, the Edward Hain Centre, St Ives’ community health and wellbeing hub. The Shout wouldn’t be possible without the generous sponsorship of St Austell Brewery and the fantastic local venues; The Bier Huis Grand Cafe, Café Art, The Castle Inn, The Golden Lion, Harbour View House, The Lifeboat Inn, Pedn Olva, the Pilchard Press, the Queen’s Hotel, Tretho Lounge, The Western Hotel, The Rum & Crab Shack and Sea of Coffee. The event is also proudly supported by St Ives Town Council.
