The definitive guide to Cornwall's underground culture, music, and events.

Seven voices unite as Woodkern, Cornwall and Devon's most compelling contemporary folk collective, weaving ancestral melodies with striking original compositions. This youth-led ensemble channels the spirit of their namesake—ancient messengers who knew their land intimately—creating music that pulses with deep-rooted authenticity and modern vitality.
At the atmospheric Wheal Martyn Clay Works, where industrial heritage meets creative expression, Woodkern will perform their distinctive fusion of Cornish, Irish and English traditional songs alongside powerful original material. The venue's unique character, nestled in St Austell's clay country, provides the perfect backdrop for music that celebrates both heritage and innovation.
Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start, with the bar serving throughout and optional pre-ordered pasties available. Tickets range from £6-£15, with under-12s free. Proceeds support the Wheal Martyn Trust's vital charitable work, making this an evening that gives back to Cornwall's cultural landscape.
